Chakra means wheel. The wheel refers to energy centers in your body. In order for the body to become totally aligned, each chakra must be opened and balanced. The chakras, when balanced, can promote physical, mental and emotional well-being. The Chakras start from the base of the spine to the top of your head. The 7 main chakras are the Root Chakra. Sacral Chakra, Solar Plexus Chakra, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Third Eye Chakra and the Crown Chakra.
The Root Chakra
The Root Chakra is located at the base of your spine. The color associated with the root chakra is red. The root chakra is responsible for your sense of security and stability. This chakra helps you to feel grounded and to withstand everyday life challenges.
The Sacral Chakra is located just below the belly button. The color associated with the sacral chakra is orange. This chakra is responsible for your sexual and creative energy. The sacral chakra is connected to how you relate to our emotions as well as the emotions of others.
Solar Plexus Chakra
The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in your stomach area. The color associated with the solar plexus chakra is yellow. The solar plexus is responsible for confidence and self-esteem.
The Heart Chakra is located near your heart, in the center of your chest. The color associated with the heart chakra is green. The heart chakra is all about our ability to love and show compassion.
The Throat Chakra is located in your throat. The color associated with the throat chakra is blue. The throat chakra is responsible for our ability to communicate verbally.
Third Eye Chakra
The Third Eye Chakra is located between our eyes. The color associated with the third eye chakra is indigo. The third eye chakra is responsible for our intuition. Some of us also call this our gut instinct. This chakra is also connected to our imagination.
The Crown Chakra is located on the top of your head. The color associated with the crown chakra is purple. Your crown chakra is responsible for your spiritual connection to yourself, others, and the universe. It also connects us to our life’s purpose.
