3 Benefits of Using Essential Oil
Essential oils are a natural way to heal the body. Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts. The potency of the oils are made useful for the oils to be used as a powerful botanical medicine. Because essential oils are so strong you must be mindful of how you use them. Only small doses are required and it's good to use them routinely so that the body won’t get used to them, that way the oils won’t lose their effectiveness.
Essential oils can be used in three different ways. It can be used as an aromatherapy which involves smelling the oils to improve your health. This method allows you to improve your mood quickly. For instance whenever I have anxiety I usually like to smell lavender oil or peppermint oil, it automatically relaxes me. The cool thing about aromatherapy is that there are different ways to use it. For instance you can be like me and do it the old fashioned way by taking deep breaths after opening the bottle. Then there is the diffuser method where you can mix essential oils and water in an oil diffuser machine that puffs tiny particles around so you can breathe it in. Then there is the steam inhalation method which includes putting a few drops of essential oil in a bowl of hot water. After that you put your head over the bowl, and cover your head with a towel and breathe in the steam.
A second way that essential oil can be used is through ingestion. Some people take essential oils orally in teas. Another way people ingest essential oils is using it as a supplement by dropping it under the tongue. This method is used safely under the proper care of a physician.
A third way to use essential oils is as a typical application. This is one of my favorite methods. Remember essential oils are strong so a little goes a long way. To use this method the essential oil must be diluted with a carrier oil such as coconut oil or jojoba oil. I prefer to use coconut oil because its light and smells amazing and don’t get me started on how great it makes the skin feels.
The health benefits of using essential oils are endless. It helps to boost your mood. It improves your sleep. Your anxiety and pain is reduced due to the use of the essential oils. Some of my favorite oils to use as I mentioned earlier are lavender oil, peppermint oil and eucalyptus oil. Each oil has its own benefit . Lavender oil is good to use for stress, pain, and sleep. Peppermint oil is good for fighting fatigue, lifting your mood, supports digestion, supports memory and reduces gut spasms. Eucalyptus oil is a great oil to have around the cold season because it soothes a stuffed up nose by opening your nasal passageway so it is easier to breathe.
I like to think of essential oils as tiny little bottles of goodness. When purchasing the oils make sure it's 100% pure , sold in dark glass bottles which protects the oils quality. Also make sure it is labeled with details about the oil source. You want to make sure you're getting an oil of good quality with the instructions on how to properly use it. This way you can feel the effectiveness of the oil when used in the method of your choice.
